Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, Cavite

Last Independence Day, we had a family vacation at Tagaytay City, Cavite.  Originally, we wanted to have our vacation at Baguio City, but due to the not so good weather, we opted to go South instead.  We had our overnight stay at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Normally, we wanted to travel cheap as much as possible; hence, these five star hotels are never an option.  But, we had a change of mind when we were able to check-in at Summit Ridge, Tagaytay for as low as Php 4,500.00 for 4 adults and 1 child.  So, eventhough Taal Vista Hotel seem to be an expensive hotel, just like what is published in the internet, we still tried to inquire and book a room with 1king size bed amd 1 single bed.  And from the normal rate of Php 8,840.00, we only paid as low as Php 4,700.00.  Thanks to SM Advantage Card!

Okay, too much for the intro.  What I was just trying to imply is, do not be afraid to inquire to these luxurious hotels and ask for promos.  You'll get surprised - as much as we do.

We had booked for the Deluxe Ridge room, Mountain Wing which already includes buffet breakfast for 2.  The accomodation also includes:

  • Air-conditioning
  • Cable TV
  • IDD/NDD phone
  • Wi-Fi Internet access
  • Mini-bar
  • Coffee/tea maker
  • Private toilet and bath
  • Hair dryer
  • Safe Daily newspaper (upon request)

Aside from these inclusions, we also enjoyed the following amenities:

  • Outdoor swimming pool
  • Fitness room
  • Children’s play area
  • Game room
  • Asmara Spa – relieve stress through various treatments and massages
  • The Kultura Butik – offers distinctly local gift and souvenir items
  • Cafe Veranda – indulge in an array of Continental and Filipino cuisine while enjoying the gentle afternoon breeze and panoramic view of the Taal Volcano
  • Lobby Lounge – a perfect setting for guests to enjoy house-blended cocktails and fine selection of wines
  • Room service
  • Conference rooms
  • Business center
  • Airport and city transfers
  • Car rental
  • Currency exchange
  • Laundry service

Was not able to get as much pictures as I wanted, apologies.

The 33rd Manila International Book Fair - September 2012

The 33rd Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) is here again friends. I'm so excited for this yearly event. It captured the hearts of book-loving Filipinos and become the most awaited event of the year for many of us.

During the last year event, it is said that it was attended by more than eighty five thousand people visiting around 300 exhibitors showcasing thousands of books.

This year, MIBF is scheduled on September 12-16, from 10:00am to 8:00pm at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City. Aside from thousands of book exhibits from local and foreign exhibitors, there are also scheduled special co-located events such as book launching, writers meetings, and seminars.

The MIBF also offers wide variety of titles, hard-to-find books, and exhibits books with big discounts. As for me, I love to visit Christian exhibitors and DZAS booth everytime I attend MIBF. Same as before, all book titles from Church Strengthening Ministry (CSM) are all prized at Php100 each.

Nowadays, as tablets and smart phones are emerging, book authors and publishers consider it as another challenge they are facing. But as for MIBF, publishers and book authors, they will continue its legacy of promoting the love for reading. So what you waiting for friends, come and visit the 33rd MIBF.

Asya Filipino - Asian Restaurant Centris Walk

After long time of waiting to have our schedules meet in order to celebrate my birthday with my office friends, we finally came up with a lunch at Asya Filipino-Asian Restaurant at the neighboring Centris mall.

Asya Filipino-Asian Restaurant offers a wide variety of food that are hand selected vegies, fruits, fresh meats and fish, flavoured noodles, sushi rolls, salad and native filipino dishes.  It is located at Ground Floor, Centris Walk, Eton Centris, EDSA corner Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Here are some of the pictures during our visit at Asya Filipino-Asian Restaurant.

Unlidata from Smart

It is truly a big help for me having this unlidata plan from Smart. I was able to use my free phone to its maximum capability.

The thing I love the most with unlidata plan is that I am now able to listen, anywhere and anytime, to my favorite radio station using tune-in Radio and Radio Philippines from App store and Play Store. Even while working, I can now keep my radio in the background.

It is truly a big help for me as an avid listener to have such mobile apps.

Here are some screen shots from my cp.

Starbucks for breaktime

This morning I attended product presentation conducted by Emerson Network Power. The event was successful and very informative in engineering solutions specially to energy transmission business.

The event was focused on the NextGEN Infrastructure by Emerson Network Power. The 3-hour event discussed some topics like Introduction to Emerson Nerwork Power, NextGen Infrastructure Solutions, UtilitySure Electric Power, Solutions for Industrial Power, Data Center Infrastructure Management Solutions, and Facilities Monitoring System Solutions. It is a good thing that the presentation is interactive presentation which allows participants to raised questions and clarifications even in the middle of discussions.

To encourage participants to actively participate in the discussion and focus on the topics  being discussed, they offered some snacks (Starbucks mocha frap and beef sandwich) and I'm sharing it with you friends!

Smart Mobile Internet Speed

Finally, after two weeks of waiting, I was able to get hold of my new Samsung Galaxy SIII from Smart.  I avail of their unlimited data Plan 2000.

Well, the internet speed is kinda slow inside our house, so I have to connect to our Globelines DSL (with speed of up to 2mbps).  But, the below image shows my Smart Mobile Internet speed when traveling in Quezon City.  So, I guess this birthday gift is all worth it :)

Note: The screen capture above is taken from my iPod that connects to the internet shared by my SIII
